Some of the world's most highly acclaimed Japanese animations fascinate people not only with their characters and stories, but also with their background art. They depict fantastic worlds and beautiful rural and urban landscapes that you would love to visit and photograph in such places.
NOSTALTONE is a filter that was created with the goal of creating a landscape that is "like a scene from an anime", a familiar scene that will move your heart with its warmth.
It adds a warm and nostalgic atmosphere, which is enhanced with dramatic flares and ghosting to express the world in a nostalgic way.
NOSTALTONE ORANGE , NOSTALTONE BLUE and NOSTALTONE GREEN with different nuances of color, contrast, and light diffusion effects, are available.
NOSTALTONE is a coined word derived from "Nostalgic Tone," expressing the beauty of nostalgic tones and atmosphere.

For a nostalgic
evening atmosphere
NOSTALTONE ORANGE is a filter that gives a nostalgic feeling to the photo through adding a warm dusky light, even when taken during the day. It also has the effect of faintly softening the image. It further emphasizes colors in scenes with originally warm tones, such as sunsets or autumn leaves.
Slightly diffuse light
for an impressive depiction
NOSTALTONE ORANGE diffuses light to create an impressive scene with a gentle soft effect. Unlike most soft filters, which have no color, NOSTALTONE ORANGE has a warm color. By consciously incorporating morning and evening sunlight, light reflected off buildings, and light from night scenes, even an ordinary scene can be made impressive with its light diffusion effect.
Dramatic ghost and flare
NOSTALTONE filters create rings of light and ghosts when the sun's rays are low in the picture angle in the morning or evening, creating a dramatic effect like a scene in an animated film.
Nostaltone Blue and Nostaltone Orange each produce a different ring effect. The color and number of the rings vary depending on the lens, the position and angle of the light source, the focal length, and the aperture setting. Nostaltone Orange is more likely to produce blue-toned ghosting, adding a unique visual accent to your images.
* Some lenses may not produce a light ring.
For nostalgic
gradation expression
The NOSTALTONE BLUE has the effect of brightening the shadows while at the same time reducing the highlights, creating a nostalgic image through soft tones.
The optical design also allows for the use of a very subtle blue tint. The blue tones in the brightened shadows create an atmosphere that is similar looking to a scene in an anime.
Diffusion effect to feel like being surrounded by gentle light
NOSTALTONE BLUE also has the effect of diffusing light. It diffuses the low morning and evening sunlight, creating a nostalgic atmosphere as if surrounded by gentle light.Since the diffusion effect is strong with direct backlighting, to achieve a good diffusion effect it is best to use diagonal backlighting or sidelighting, or to hide the entire sun or a part of it behind buildings, trees, people, etc.
When shooting after sunset, the filter creates an impressive scene through softly diffusing light sources like streetlights, traffic lights, cars, etc.
Dramatic Rings of Light
Nostaltone features a specially designed coating that encourages internal reflections, creating its signature nostalgic atmosphere. When the sun is positioned near the center of the frame, these reflections may appear as dramatic rings of light, adding a cinematic touch reminiscent of a scene from an anime.
Compared to Nostaltone Orange, Nostaltone Blue produces a stronger soft-focus effect. As a result, the soft effect often becomes more prominent than the rings, especially when using telephoto lenses, where the rings may be less visible. To achieve a better balance between the soft effect and the rings, try partially obscuring the sun behind a building or another object.
* Some lenses may not produce a light ring.
Create a Nostalgic Atmosphere with Soft Green Tones
A gentle, transparent green tint spreads softly across the entire image, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. In lush, green scenes, it enhances the vibrancy of natural greens. Blue skies shift slightly toward cyan tones, evoking both freshness and warmth, with a subtle sense of nostalgia. The filter reduces contrast between highlights and shadows, helping to preserve gradation and prevent blown highlights, giving images a film-like mood.
Using the NOSTALTONE GREEN filter produces a nostalgic look straight out of the camera, similar to an image that's been artistically adjusted with editing software.
Subtly Diffused Light for a Soft, Dreamy Look
NOSTALTONE GREEN delivers a subtle soft-focus effect. In backlit scenes, strong side lighting, or when bright light sources are included in the frame, it gently diffuses light while slightly reducing contrast, creating a soft, airy glow.
Occasional Pink-Toned Ghosting for a Dreamlike Accent
To achieve its nostalgic mood, the NOSTALTONE series uses a coating that intentionally allows surface reflections to appear more easily. As a result, depending on the angle of incoming backlight, pinkish ghost effects may appear, adding a subtle, dreamlike accent to your photos.

For NOSTALTONE Blue, Orange, and Green
- ●
- You can further refine the look to match your creative vision by adjusting the exposure, saturation, and contrast settings on your camera.
- ●
- To produce a ring of light, place the sun in the center of the image. The ring is smaller at wide-angle and larger at telephoto. The rings may appear or disappear with even slight changes in camera angle, so fine adjustments are essential. A darker background makes the rings easier to see. They are also easier to capture when the sun is low in the sky, such as during the early morning or late afternoon, allowing the landscape to be included in the composition. Partially obscuring the sun behind a building, tree, or person can produce thinner, more defined rings. Depending on the lens and shooting conditions, the rings may not appear. In some cases, they may not be noticeable on the camera's display but can be seen faintly when viewed on a computer screen.

NOSTALTONE Blue
- ●
- Because NOSTALTONE Blue reduces contrast, it works best with high-contrast subjects or scenes with vivid colors rather than low-contrast subjects. For a more anime-inspired look, a higher saturation setting is recommended.
Note
- ●
- To achieve its distinctive visual effects, NOSTALTONE features a specially designed coating that intentionally promotes internal reflections on the filter glass. As a result, colorful rings of light and ghosting may appear in your images. These are intentional characteristics of the filter and are not defects.

- The appearance of the filter glass also varies depending on the lighting. Under transmitted light, NOSTALTONE Orange appears orange, NOSTALTONE Blue appears pale violet, and NOSTALTONE Green appears green. Under reflected light, NOSTALTONE Orange appears blue, NOSTALTONE Blue appears orange, and NOSTALTONE Green appears pink.
